This past February 6 and 12, we held two events to celebrate the good treatment practices at two CIUSSS West-Central Montreal long-term care centres, the Donald Berman <\/span>Maimonides <\/span>Geriatric Centre and the Saint Andrew Residential Centre. Numerous surprises and activities awaited attendees when they arrived.<\/span><\/h4>\n

These events are the result of the \u201c<\/span>D\u00e9marche de valorisation des pratiques de bientraitance en CHSLD<\/a><\/strong>” following for the call for project proposals\u00a0Soutien \u00e0 la r\u00e9alisation de projets visant la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019environnements favorables \u00e0 la bientraitance en centres d\u2019h\u00e9bergement et de soins de longue dur\u00e9e<\/em>\u00a0submitted by the Secr\u00e9tariat aux a\u00een\u00e9s (SA) from the minist\u00e8re de la Sant\u00e9 et des Services sociaux (MSSS).<\/span><\/p>\n

This projet was led by the Domain of Expertise to Counter Mistreatment<\/a> of the Centre for Research and Expertise in Social Gerontology (CREGES) in collaboration with residents, staff, family members, and the management of two long-term care residences of the CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, as well as the SAPA (Soutien \u00e0 l\u2019autonomie des personnes \u00e2g\u00e9es), DAAER (Direction des affaires acad\u00e9miques et de l\u2019\u00e9thique de la recherche), and DQTEVE-SV (Direction de la Qualit\u00e9, Transformation, \u00c9valuation, Valeur, \u00c9thique clinique et organisationnelle et des Soins Virtuels) departments of the CIUSSS West-Central Montreal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event featured the launch of a number of strategies developed over the past year, including a permanent photo exhibition and a mural showcasing good-treatment practices, a video featuring testimonials from residents and employees on what good-treatment means, and a zine and comic book promoting good-treatment practices on display at these two CHSLDs.<\/p>\n
