Tool for identifying potential situations of sexual mistreatment against older adults

The tool for identifying potential situations of sexual mistreatment against older adults was created to raise awareness and support workers in the community sector as well as in the health and social services network.

This project follows the Plan d’action gouvernemental pour contrer la maltraitance envers les personnes aînées 2022-2027 (MSSS, 2022) and the law L-6.3 aimed at combating abuse of seniors and any other vulnerable adult. In this strategic and legislative context, the CREGÉS has been mandated to ‘add content on sexual abuse to existing training programs.’ More specifically, the project aligns with Objective 3.1: ‘to raise awareness and train various stakeholders and environments on the issue of mistreatment,’ including Measure 17, which involves ‘developing tools and training content to combat abuse, adapted to different living environments,’ by applying Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) from an intersectional perspective. Finally, this project is also part of Action 38 of the Integrated Government Strategy to Combat Sexual Violence, Domestic Violence and Rebuild Confidence 2022-2027, led by the Secrétariat à la condition féminine (2024). Action 38, led by the Secrétariat aux aînés in collaboration with the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI), aims to ‘support and equip practitioners in the Health and Social Services network who work with older adults who are victims of sexual and domestic violence.
