Description :

This document presents the findings of a study on the sexuality of older adults receiving palliative care, examining both their lived experiences and the perceptions of healthcare professionals. It highlights the diversity of older adults’ experiences, ranging from sexuality being sidelined to sexuality remaining present and expressed through various forms of intimacy—physical, emotional, or imagined. The analysis also underscores the influence of perceptions of sexuality and age-, illness-, and end-of-life-related biases, which affect communication and the recognition of intimate and sexual needs by healthcare professionals. Finally, the document proposes avenues for better integrating this dimension into care practices.
