This research synthesis examines social workers’ perspectives on their psychosocial assessment practices following the implementation of Bill 11, aimed at better protecting vulnerable individuals. Based on interviews and questionnaires, it highlights increased complexity in assessments, particularly due to the requirement to tailor protective measures to individuals’ capacities and needs. Social workers report clinical, ethical, and organizational challenges, including difficulties accessing information, collaborating with physicians, and managing time constraints. Although they support the law’s values, the research shows that some question its concrete impact on individuals’ autonomy, suggesting the need for more practical and organizational adjustments.
