Created by the CREGÉS, this bilingual tip sheet explains the general terms used for sexual and gender diversity, and the basic attitudes, skills, and practices that support inclusive approaches.

TRAINING COURSE ON THE REALITIES AND NEEDS OF LGBT OLDER ADULTS (In French)

Developed as part of the Plan d’action gouvernemental pour contrer la maltraitance envers les personnes aînées 2017-2022′ through a partnership between the CREGÉS the CIUSSS-Estrie-CHUS and the MSSS, this training has 6 modules offered in French:

  • 1 introductory module;
  • 1 module on key information about LGBT experiences;
  • 4 modules aimed at learning about inclusive practices for LGBT older adults, through case studies that represent various care and social service contexts.
These modules aim to develop an in-depth understanding of the diversity of LGBT older adults’ life courses to support health and social service professionals’ recognition of past and present experiences of discrimination and their impact on access to care and services. Through case studies, the participants will reflect on their professional practice and develop communication and intervention skills to support inclusive approaches in the health and social services network.
