Description:
Creating music, playing an instrument and singing are all part of active leisure and creative activities with “active aging” policies to encourage older adults to participate. But what does it mean to age in music? This presentation focuses on three events in which different groups of older adults “perform” aging in their own way by participating in musical activities. These events, the activities they publicize, and the issues they raise provide a privileged observatory of the constant negotiation of expectations and norms (social, cultural and physical, in particular) that shape aging as a plural phenomenon.
