Mr. Deschamps gave a brief summary of Quebec’s End-of-Life law, particularly on access to palliative care. He discussed the impact of the Baudouin decision in the Truchon-Gladu case on the criteria for medical aid in dying (MAID) and some changes that will be required to make MAID requests by anticipation. He also examined the question of broadening the criteria for eligibility for the MAID in the light of various jurisdictions, in order to reflect on the probable evolution of Quebec and Canada’s legislation.
