This webinar will present the results of a qualitative study on the palliative care journey of adults with intellectual disabilities. The study is based on retrospective accounts from family members, staff at residential care facilities, and professionals from the community and public sectors in Quebec.

Objectives:

1) Examine the complexity of palliative care journeys for adults with intellectual disabilities.
2) Identify the main factors influencing access to, and the quality of, palliative care.
3) Highlight ethical issues related to autonomy, inclusion, and end-of-life decision-making.
4) Discuss strategies aimed at strengthening collaborative practices and promoting self-determination in end-of-life care settings.
