On November 18, 2026, CREGÉS will open its symposium, Vieillissement et rapports à la mort : Diversité des expériences de la fin de vie, by welcoming Véronique Hivon for a special conversation exploring end-of-life care, palliative care, and the many realities of aging.
With a background in law and social policy, Véronique Hivon has held several prominent roles in Quebec public life, including Member of the National Assembly and Minister responsible for Social Services and Youth Protection. She has been a driving force behind major reforms, most notably Quebec’s Act Respecting End-of-Life Care, and continues to contribute to public dialogue through her work in academic, media, and community settings.
This opening session will offer an accessible and thoughtful opportunity to reflect on the human, social, and ethical dimensions of end-of-life experiences. The event will begin with a brief address by Véronique Hivon, followed by a moderated conversation and an audience question-and-answer period.
The symposium will be held in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend either in person at Concordia University or online via Zoom. In-person registration fees range from $40 to $120, depending on the registration category, while virtual registration is available for $40 to $50. Visit the registration page for details on fees, participation options, and the full program.
