Description :

The research project Les pratiques bientraitantes dans les centres pour aînés et la promotion du vieillissement actif, funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et Culture, in partnership with the Secrétariat aux aînés du ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, and conducted in collaboration with the Community Health and Social Services Network (CHSSN), examines good treatment practices involving English-speaking older adults in community settings.

This poster, presented by Sandra Smele, Coordinator of the CREGÉS Domain of Expertise on Inclusive Aging, Diversity, Health and Well-Being (IDSB) at the Colloque pour le mieux-être des aînés held on May 5 and 6, highlights a good treatment practice developed through a partnership between a long-term care home (CHSLD) and a community program for older adults. The poster presents the results of the evaluation of this practice, including three key principles that support the implementation of such initiatives:

  • reducing barriers to participation,
  • creating inclusive environments, and
  • fostering close collaboration between professionals working in community organizations and long-term care homes.
