Coordination et gouvernance : les angles morts du système

The coordination of government action is often challenged by highly interdependent policies and programs that operate in silos—and at times even contradict one another. These structural tensions are especially pronounced for marginalized older adults, for whom fragmented services can significantly hinder access to support. This webinar draws on a research project examining six groups of marginalized older adults: (1) immigrant older adults, (2) aging individuals living with serious mental health issues, (3) older adults experiencing homelessness, (4) justice-involved older adults, (5) LGBTQ+ older adults, and (6) older adults living in precarious situations outside major metropolitan areas. Through interviews and focus groups conducted with these populations, as well as with community organization workers, public-sector practitioners, and public service experts, the project offers a cross-sectional analysis of the barriers to access experienced across groups. While their lived realities differ, the findings reveal strikingly similar challenges, pointing to opportunities for cross-cutting and coordinated solutions. By translating research findings into actionable insights, this webinar aims to support more coherent interventions and inform the development of inclusive practices and public policies. Ultimately, the project contributes to improving service delivery and advancing the living conditions of marginalized older adults.
